The “Design by Egeriis” prospect

My mission is to create a dialogue between the past, present, and future – in a constantly evolving unity with my own designs, where I capture the essence of each era in classical forms or entirely new expressions, where furniture becomes part of the interior of the future.

This work will unfold in harmony with redesigns of my father’s furniture, which will be updated with contemporary colors and thoughtful adjustments, while preserving the distinctive history and spirit my father had, with roots reaching all the way back to the mid-1960s.

My passion and awards

As a trained interior designer from the Interior Design Academy in Denmark, I also have a deep passion for the space and environment in which furniture exists. A room needs furniture, and furniture needs a room—together they create a unified whole with a shared expression. But this does not exclude my belief that the furniture should also be able to stand on its own. And in 2024 I was the Good Design® Award winner from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design. And here in 2025 I won the Prize Designs for Modern Furniture + Lighting® Award from The European Centre for Architecture in Athens.

It was with the Petanque Chair that I won these awards, which are among the most coveted international design prizes in the world. Please visit The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design for more information. Petanque Chair | 2024 – Good Design Awards

Petanque Chair - Dining & Lounge

Here the Petanque dining chair is shown with integrated internal upholstery. The seat is intended to be made in high-quality faux leather, making it easy to clean while providing a refined and calm aesthetic.

Here the Petanque lounge chair is presented. It is essential that, the moment you sit down, you experience an immediate sense of comfort and think: “wow, this feels really good to sit in.” At the same time, the chair is designed to make it easy and natural to both sit down and get up. The width of the chair is 80 cm.

This drawing shows the dimensions we use as the starting point for the first prototype of the LAWS chair (the lounge chair). From here, the development will progress through physical testing and sensory evaluations, where we continuously adjust and shape the interior of the chair to achieve optimal comfort and a strong aesthetic coherence.

Cbastian Egeriis

Designer and son

When I bring new live to my father’s original design, it is not only as a designer, but out of love for my father and his work. My father was ahead of his time and his portfolio is an amazing heritage, which I highly treasure.

The lounge model in the picture was made by Aage Egeriis and was never produced. I have drawn some drawings with furniture examples of how a FF&E design/office landscape could look like for this lounge model. See the next section for the drawings.

When I work on my father’s portfolio

I always start with drawings when I works on my father’s portfolio. I take the original design concept and idea (and in this case the lounge model) and extract the quality which meet the expectations of today’s functionality and add the demanded aesthetic value to a contemporary office landscape without losing the original organic impression.

Of course, there is still a long and exciting road ahead before this office landscape is realized with the design of shelving and cabinets, lighting, colors and materials in a contemporary interior.

The Orchid Chair by my father Aage Egeriis.

In the first picture you can see a 3D drawing of my father’s original design, the Orchid Chair from 1968, and then a picture with my proposal for a redesign. But I have since developed new versions that I feel are even stronger than the one shown here.
